I love this picture!
A good friend of mine stole my kids for an afternoon and did a surprise photo shoot, then the kids gave me these pictures on Mother's Day! What a great gift! This is a fun "Stage" in our lives and we are grateful for our many blessings!

Happy Birthday, JAke!
Jake was chubby and huggy and wonderful as a baby! Now he is NINE YEARS OLD! Jake is comic relief at it's best. he always makes us laugh! On his school report card the teacher commented , "Jake is Mr Personality in third grade!" We had a really fun family day to celebrate his ninth birthday...we swam and rock climbed at the rec center, then we ate out at pizza. We had a great day together, and we are so glad Jake is a part of our family!

Milliken Centennial Celebration
Milliken had a little celebration (for a little town) to celebrate it's 100th birthday. They had the grand opening for their new police station and meeting house with cake and ice cream. They also had on display some mammoth bones that were found in the area.
Last Spring the school district held an art contest for students to submit a drawing that represents Milliken's history. Lucy drew this picture of a barn and horse and farmer, and it was chosen to be hung in Milliken's new police station and meeting house. She received this certificate of appreciation and a beanie baby MANNY THE MILLIken MAMMOTH in honor of the mammoth bones on display!
The Union Pacific Railroad brought in this mini train...they gave a presentation on SAFETY AT RR CROSSINGS then gave you a ticket to ride. the engineer was a lot of fun...doing circles in the parking lot like the engine was chasing it's tail!
there were many fun and free activities...here Jake is DIGGIN UP BONES . Then Lucy & I helped with face painting and Jake helped with the Bean bag toss. it was a fun morning!

Great family day...
We love the BYU v AirForce game! Last year we were in Provo for the game, and this year the Cougars came to Colorado Springs. Air Force is always a great host...courteous fans, beautiful scenery, and great ticket prices. We really enjoyed our day in Colorado Springs...
too bad we LOST! (and lost BAD! OUCH!)

Game Day was 9/11 so there were some really nice presentations to remember 9/11/2001.
We couldn't have been in a better place to honor this 9th anniversary!

fourth of july- a late night ending
We had a fabulous Fourth of July Celebration! These pictures go last-to-first....so we ENDED the day at the Colorado National Speedway to watch the races and the fireworks.
After the races the kids enjoyed "PIT ROW".
Well, that isn't entirely true- they enjoyed it long enough to get these pictures with the cars and then it was TIME TO GO HOME. Late night, and my kids just aren't late-night-kiddos.
fourth of july- a beautiful beginning
We started our Saturday off the best way possible...with a flag ceremony put on by our cub scouts, then pancake breakfast. I love my cub scouts! (Jake is third from the left.)
Then of course MORE FOOD at our traditional BBQ with our best friends, the Merrills. LAst year we got rained out, but this year just some light sprinkles.
