The weather forecast is always wrong! We checked before we left mom and dad's house- it looked good so we headed East on Saturday. Lucy was throwing up all that day, so we took it slow and made many stops. By the time we reached Grand Junction, the weather report showed not-so-good weather over Vail pass but traffic was backed up and not moving due to an accident, so we got a hotel room in Grand Junction. Next morning it took us 5 hours to get to Silverthorne and the weather was bad. The storm was supposed to clear out by 5pm so we thought we would wait it out- we went to a movie in town. Instead of clearing out, it got worse, and they closed I-70. The town of Silverthorn opened up the recreation/community center for a shelter so we spent the night there. We were grateful for a warm place to spend the night. Thankfully by then Lucy wasn't throwing up anymore! Here we are camping out at the rec center.

The next morning all the people staying in the rec center up-and-left, so we decided that we would become redcross volunteers for the morning- we helped put away all the cots and blankets that others just left. who did they think would put away all those cots and blankets? ...you're welcome.
But our trip was not over yet. Lucy had a DDS appointment in Denver at 4:30pm on Monday, and since we were already near Denver, we called and they were able to squeeze her in that morning- THANK YOU! I don't think we could have managed another car trip that day!
We're home now! And it feels great!
(We left Toquerville at 9am on Saturday, got home 11am on Monday...for 650 miles!)
This is what Jake was busy doing while Lucy was in the dentist office.
